When you schedule oil change services for your vehicle, you have options when it comes to the type of oil. Here at Kernersville Auto Center, we’ll always help you find the best oil for your vehicle. By using high-quality oil products that work well for your car and driving needs, you’ll prevent excess engine wear.
What is Synthetic Oil?
The three main types of oils are synthetic, conventional, and blends. In most cases, we recommend synthetic oil for your vehicle. Because it outperforms conventional oil, synthetic is the better choice to improve gas mileage and increase the life of your engine.
Conventional oil is the organic product you find in the ground. Yes, it goes through a refining process. However, refining the oil can only improve its qualities so much.
Synthetic oil, on the other hand, is manufactured. It is chemically the same as conventional oil, but with fewer imperfections. With synthetic oil, you’ll see the following benefits:
- A better-working engine oil at extreme temperatures, especially below freezing
- Less sludge (build-up) in your engine
- Better gas mileage for most drivers
You’ll also typically need to change your oil less frequently with synthetic. However, keep in mind that the frequency of your oil change services depends on multiple factors. Our team can recommend when you should bring your vehicle back for another oil change or other preventative maintenance services. (We can help with tire rotation, fluid checks, and more.)
The third type of oil, called a blend, synthetic blend, or semi-synthetic, is a combination of synthetic and conventional oil. This decreases the upfront cost while you still get some of the benefits of synthetics.
While synthetic oil is more expensive than conventional oil, the benefits outweigh the costs for most vehicles. You can also join our loyalty program to help keep your vehicle maintenance costs as low as possible. Also, remember that your improved gas mileage and less frequent oil changes will help to balance the upfront costs.
Havoline Oil Change Services
At Kernersville Auto Center, we exclusively use Havoline engine oil products. In our opinion, these are the best products on the market. It’s what we use in our own vehicles.
We’ll choose the exact oil that is right for your engine based on vehicle manufacturer recommendations. Your car’s manufacturer will recommend a specific viscosity (for example 10W-40). This relates to how well the oil flows at low and high temperatures. If you use the wrong oil in your car, it won’t run as well. Additionally, you will probably void the vehicle’s warranty. You wouldn’t put a tire that is too big or too small on your car, so don’t use the wrong type of oil either. Your vehicle needs the right tire size and the right engine oil to perform at its best!
Havoline makes high-quality synthetic and synthetic blend oils in a range of viscosities. Our ASE-certified mechanics will ensure your vehicle gets the right one.
Customers Love Kernersville Auto Center
Our customers love Havoline products and the service they get at Kernersville Auto Center. In fact, here is what our happy customers are saying:
“I can’t say enough about how easy Mac Allen and Havoline Xpress Lube make it for someone to maintain their car. The staff comes out to meet you and takes care of everything. They are very knowledgeable about all aspects of vehicle maintenance. I have had them change my oil, install new windshield wipers, handle NC inspection, and add new tires with nitrogen. All a customer has to do is wait in his clean, comfortable waiting area. Mac makes taking care of your car as painless as possible!” – Lou Ann Peters
“These guys are great. One of the only mechanics I trust to look at my car if anything goes wrong. Never had an issue with their oil change, and they were able to patch a punctured tire for cheap.” – Doomie Grunt
“The people and service are just incredible. I purchased a set of tires for one of my work vans there recently and the value was excellent. They showed great care to my van and had us in and out within couple of hours, and that was with changing all tires, plus an oil change. It is clear that the owner of this location knows what it takes to achieve customer satisfaction. I would highly recommend to all my friends and family, and will continue using for all my automotive needs. GREAT JOB!!!!!!” – Thomas Crater
